MAGIC IN MOUNT HOLLY – film poster
Poster created for the artistic Christmas film, Magic in Mt. Holly, about a small town crisis and a new business owner that just might paint a little magic into this Christmas season.
This family film brings with the spirit of Christmas, the strength of an artist, and an unexpected romance that comes at just the right time. The poster needed to be festive, while showing the main characters and the connection they develop throughout the film. The main character, Noelle, is a painter and her art is central to the film. We chose to depict her holding a paint brush to bring in the artistic theme, and we carried this through with paint stroke in the title treatment.
OUR PROCESS
Creating this poster was all about finding the right images and making sure that all the major themes were portrayed properly. The photos provided of the actors didn’t lend to the Christmas theme, so we chose to composite them into a scene that had a Christmas tree and decorations. Making sure it looked natural was key, as well as making sure that they fit into the scene. Their clothing color was shifted to red and green to maintain those 2 colors as the dominant color palette for the poster. The title treatment helped to tie the Christmas theme together with the art theme.
