graphic design – poster design
joy & hope – film poster
Poster created for the romantic Christmas film Joy & Hope, about two sisters that run a ranch in upstate New York with their dad and friend. When a writer comes to town, he learns how special Christmas on the ranch really is.
Creating this poster was all about representing the relationship between two sisters, their romantic relationships with men that were also on the ranch, and the holiday season in which the film took place. We did this through photo manipulation of multiple assets that we were given from the film, title treatment, color choice and composition, paying attention to the lighthearted nature of the drama and maintaining that spirit through the graphical elements.
ALTERNATE VERSIONS
OUR PROCESS
The two most prominant themes in Joy & Hope are love and Christmas. We wanted to show Joy and Hope together, doing what they love. During the film, Joy falls in love with a complete stranger, and Hope realizes the love she has for a childhood friend. Representing these relationships that are built during the story was important as well. The last key element that needed to be heavily featured was Christmas. This was portrayed through color choice, snow, the festive title and the subtle graphics throughout.
SEE IT IN ACTION
Joy & Hope is being streamed currently on PureFlix and has been purchased by other territories in the US and around the country. The production company for the movie is Gemelli Films, who we worked closely with to ensure that the poster art represented the film properly and that they were happy with the final outcome.
