Equal Standard – film poster
Poster created for the crime drama, Equal Standard, portraying the harsh reality of racial injustice and police brutality.
This indie film sought to expose the racial inequality that plagues our justice system, creating unnecessary police brutality and death. Our approach to creating the poster was to show the violence and the pain that it can cause, while also making sure to display the primary actors. The issue of equality was a primary theme, and that is reinforced by the confederate flag behind the title treatment.

OUR PROCESS
For this poster, we started with the theme of the film and made sure to select images that really captured the right emotion. It is a raw film, with a lot of intensity and truth, so keeping the imagery straightforward without a lot of adornment was key to evoking the proper message. Red was a dominant color that we used as it portrays violence and anger, lending well to the message of the film. Showing the laurels shows the film’s success in festivals and gives a better sense of establishment. There are different images used but our main focus was to make sure everything still connected and flowed well together.
