DECK THE HEART – film poster

Poster created for the Romance Christmas Film, Deck the Heart, about an event planner winning over the heart of a business man.

This film begins with a decorating job, and turns into a lifelong romance between two strangers that bring out the best in each other. The two biggest themes we needed to display were Christmas and love. During a holiday season, two people that had never met were able to put their lives aside to fall head over heals for each other. The colors, the graphics, and the symbolism in the poster were all meant to illustrate that.

OUR PROCESS

The main theme of this film is love, followed by Christmas. With the main character being a decorator, using a christmas wreath shaped like a heart was a very appropriate graphic to reinforce the main motifs. The color blue was used as a primary color as it accented the other colors well and also brought in the winter aspect. Font choice was important for the title, as we wanted to make sure it was festive and fun, but also legible and bold. Lastly, the image we chose for the main characters shows them holding hands, gazing into each other’s eyes lovingly. Chris’s shirt was shifted from blue to green to compliment Meredith’s red shirt and maintain the Christmas spirit.
